I don’t just conduct interviews with sources — sometimes I am the source. Here are a couple of my favorite media appearances, in case that’s your thing (or you’re my mom).

TV

I appeared on 20/20 in 2024 to provide commentary on a murder case I covered while I was in college in Florida. The 20/20 episode, called “Killer on Campus,” followed a 2022 interview I did on the same subject for the Hulu series Death in the Dorms.

CBS News asked me in February 2023 to give remote employees tips on which home office deductions they could (and couldn’t) claim on their taxes.

PIX11 used me as an expert on millennial finances during the pandemic in 2020. I joined WKYC to talk about whether it’s wise to ditch your debit card in 2020.

My reporting (and interview) were featured on Good Morning America for a story about extreme couponers on TikTok in 2019.

I’ve appeared on Cheddar several times to talk about Dollar Scholar (2019), Vine compilations (2019), passive income (2018) and Marie Kondo (2019).

Podcasts + radio

I appeared on a 2024 episode of The Curve, a stereotype-busting podcast that teaches women about personal finance, to discuss why (and how) to talk about your salary with your friends without making it weird.

I called into WGN to chat about stimulus checks in 2020. I chatted with the Mountain West News Bureau about Forrest Fenn’s treasure hunt in 2019.

Conferences

I moderated two panels for Public’s 2023 Exchange conference for retail investors, including a “Hot Ones”- style hot take rundown with #fintwit creators and a couple dozen chicken wings.

Print + beyond

My reporting has been cited/shared by the New York Times, Washington Post, Recode, theSkimm, Mashable, CNBC and several POLITICO newsletters.

Dollar Scholar has caught the eye of Travel Market Report and Contently.

My stories are used as references on the Wikipedia pages for internet meme, Karen Pence, Brett Kavanaugh, the podcast Serial, the late Zoboomafoo lemur Jovian and the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
